How It Works
Players visit your unique link β no app download, no account required. Works on any phone.
The moment a player submits their assessment, their profile lands in your dashboard. No waiting.
See trait distributions across your squad, spot pressure-response risks, and understand team dynamics.
Players take the assessment at footballpersonalitytype.com/player β or via your unique invite link that pre-fills your club branding automatically.
The Assessment
Every profile starts with the same instrument β a validated questionnaire grounded in the Big Five model, built for football.
Players answer football-specific questions β describing how they behave in on-pitch and training situations, not abstract psychological statements. Questions use a five-point scale from βNeverβ to βAlways.β Around 30% are reverse-scored to prevent yes-saying bias, which is standard in validated psychometric instruments.
Raw responses are weighted, reverse-scored where needed, then normalised to a 0β100 scale per trait. The five traits are independent β a score on one never affects another. Scores above 65 or below 35 are where the data becomes meaningfully directional.
The Research
FPT is built on research across 200+ elite players. Piepiora (2021) found personality profiles identified top performers with 97% accuracy β more reliably than physical measures alone. Allen et al. (2013) showed Big Five traits predict training commitment, leadership emergence, and long-term development trajectories.
The most widely used personality framework in psychology β where it came from, what it measures, and why it matters for sport.

Only players who complete the assessment through your unique squad link will appear in your dashboard. If a player did it outside of that link β for example using a link from a previous club β their report won't show up here.
No. The club link needs to be used before the assessment is taken, not after. If a player has already completed it without your link, just send them your link and ask them to retake it β it only takes about eight minutes.
Their new report replaces the old one in your dashboard. The system always displays the most recent completed assessment.
Personality changes slowly in adults, so for a senior team, once is usually enough. For younger players β particularly teens β it can be worth repeating every couple of years, as personality is still developing during adolescence and scores can shift meaningfully over that period.
The standard minimum in this industry is 13 years old. Beyond the player's name, no personally identifiable information is collected, but any form of psychological profiling carries responsibility. FPT complies fully with the applicable laws in each country, including UK GDPR and its provisions for minors.
Your dashboard will revert to the free plan, meaning you'll only be able to see three players. Your other players' reports will be archived β not deleted. If you resubscribe using the same email address, all archived reports will be restored and accessible again.

As soon as they submit it. There's no delay β it appears in your dashboard immediately.
Complete the assessment using the link from your own coach, or if you're a player-manager, send your squad link to yourself. Once you've submitted, you'll appear in the squad list just like any other player.
They're removed from your squad view. If you want them back, you'll need to re-add them and send a new link β they would need to retake the assessment.
No β each assessment is tied to the squad link it was completed through. Ask the player to follow your link and retake it. It only takes around eight minutes, so it shouldn't be a barrier.
You can apply your club's colours, name, and badge to your dashboard and all player-facing links. Players will experience the assessment as if it's coming directly from your club. You're responsible for ensuring you have the rights to use any branding you apply.
No. Every coach can only see their own squad. No data is shared between clubs or coaches.
